I am going to tell you about an experience where I taught my nephew a game. It was on a Sunday several weeks ago when my family members got together to celebrate the 80th birthday of my grandpa. There were a lot of relatives at the party. Some of them I rarely met, including my 8-year-old nephew. After dinner at the restaurant, we headed to my grandparents’ house to chat about what had happened recently.
As my nephew did not understand what we were talking about, nor could he get involved, he soon got bored and started crying, wanting to go home. His tears kept running out, and his face was covered with snot, which was very disturbing. Finally, my parents could not stand it, and I was dispatched to pacify him.
Then I decided to teach him hopscotch, my favorite game, when I was a kid. It is a popular playground game this article is from laokaoya website in which the player toss a small object into numbered triangles or a pattern of rectangles outlined on the ground and hop or jump through the spaces to retrieve the object. It can be played alone or with several players.
He was a quick learner. Within 10 minutes, he mastered the rules and could smoothly play without instruction. I believed his success could also be partly attributed to my good teaching and therefore was a little proud. We played it for the whole afternoon, and both enjoyed it.
