The book I am going to tell you about is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone written by J.K. Rowling. it was during a summer vacation back in high school. Although the holiday lasted for two months, we barely had much spare time as the teachers assigned tons of homework to prevent us from forgetting all the knowledge we had just learned.
我想告诉你的书是J.K.罗琳写的《哈利波特与魔法石》。那是在高中暑假的时候。虽然假期长达两个月，但我们并没有太多的空闲时间，因为老师布置了很多作业，防止我们忘掉刚刚学会的知识。
These assignments posed a great challenge for me, a person whose academic performance was far from satisfactory. So I often went to Xiaoming’s home. He was a straight-A student and never bothered with tutoring me. One day, when we were taking a break, I noticed that there was a poster of Harry Potter in his bedroom. It turned out that he was a fanatic of this series, having collected different editions of books and all the films. Learning that I had not watched any of them, he promptly invited me to read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone, the start of the story.

I think this book is interesting, not just because of the amazing world that J.K. Rowling developed, but also because of its underlying themes. It said so much about friendship, standing up in the face of adversity, loyalty, and love. It taught me not to be so judgmental and harsh and to be more aware of the struggles others might be facing.
