The experience I am going to tell you about is that I booked a hotel room on my smartphone. It was during the last National Day Holiday when my parents and I had a vacation in Xiamen, a coastal city in southeast China. I advised my father to reserve the hotel in advance. But he said it was not too late after we arrived and we could pick the best room on site.
我要告诉你的经历是，我在手机上预订了个酒店房间。那是去年国庆节假期的时候，我和我父母到中国东南部的海滨城市-厦门旅游。我建议我父亲提前预定酒店，但他说到那再定也不晚，我们能够现场挑选最好的房间。
But things did not go as he expected when we got off the plane. Since National Day Holiday lasted for seven days, numerous people had chosen to travel around. And as one of the most popular destinations, Xiamen was inundated with tourists. Every hotel we asked for had been fully booked. By 11 pm, we still wandered aimlessly on the street with our luggage, hoping the next hotel we found could have a spare room.
