雅思口语part2话题卡：Describe a thing you did to learn another language 描述你学习另一门语言所做的一件事情/语言学习

I’d like to share an experience I had when I was starting to learn French in college about two years ago.

我想分享一个我两年前准备在大学学习法语的经历。

You know, French wasn’t a course in our school until I entered college. I guess it was probably because there was an increasing need for students to learn that. For this reason, our school administration decided to open this course as an elective. But, there was only one French teacher available in our school who had to teach four different classes. The entire French learning time during that academic year was actually not that enough.

直到我上大学那会儿，我们学校才开设法语课程。我猜是因为当时学习法语的需求在逐渐增加。出于这个原因，我们学校的管理者决定开设一门法语选修课。但是，当时我们学校只有一位法语老师有空，她要同时教授四个不同的班级。在那一整个学年的法语学习时间其实是不够的。

So, I had to seek other methods to polish my French language skills. And, one crazy thing I did was to find an international student from France on our campus as a language partner. It took me about a week to find a guy who was willing to do so. We normally have a meet-up biweekly as both of us were quite busy at school. When we got together, this article is from Laokaoya website, we usually grabbed some food at the nearby cafe and spent a whole afternoon chatting. He taught me whatever he could about things in French, and I helped him improve his Chinese. Even when the covid happened, we didn’t stop. We just moved our conversation online.

所以，我不得不找其它法子来提升我的语言技能。我做的一件比较疯狂的事情就是在学校找一位法国的留学生当做语伴。我花费了大概一周的时间找到了一个愿意这样做的小哥。由于我们在学校都比较忙，所以我们会每两周碰面一次。当我们聚在一起的时候，我们会去周边的咖啡厅吃点东西，然后闲聊一个下午。他会尽可能用法语教我任何东西，我会帮助他来提升汉语。即便是疫情发生了，我们也没有停下来。我们把我们的谈话挪到了线上进行。

Well, I think the biggest benefit I got from that experience was that I am now way more confident and fluent in striking up a French conversation than in the past.

我觉得我从那个经历中获得的最大回报就是我比以前能够更加流利且自信地用法语谈话了。

I’m grateful that I got this opportunity to learn French. You know, not everyone can have that chance to find a partner like this to practice a foreign language.
