剑桥雅思5 Test 2 Passage 3阅读答案解析
第28题答案:Latin
对应原文:第1段:it may seem surprising that no one really knew how to write science in English before the 17th century. Before that, Latin was regarded as the lingua franca 1 for European intellectuals.
解析:因为填空题的题目顺序一般与原文保持一致,因此我们从第1段开始找起。题干问的是一开始科学语言是哪种,这正好与第一段的最后一句-拉丁语被认为是欧洲知识分子的通用语言-对应,因此确定答案为Latin
第29题答案:doctors
对应原文:第6段:And in the mid-17th century it was common practice for mathematicians to keep … Doctors clung the most keenly to Latin as an ‘insider language’.
解析:根据题干中的mathematicians定位到第6段。从题目中可以推断空上填的应该是与数学家并列的某一类人群,而且喜欢使用拉丁语。整个第6段除了数学家之外只在最后提到了医生,而且强调他们将拉丁语作为内部语言,由此确定答案。
第30题答案:technical vocabulary
对应原文:第7段:First, it lacked the necessary technical vocabulary. Second, it lacked the grammatical resources required
解析:从上一道题目往下,结合题目后面的1660将目光集中在第7段。题干中文章来自老烤鸭雅思问的是没有什么东西,正好与原文中的lack对应,因此确定答案为technical vocabulary
第31题答案:grammatical resources
对应原文:第7段:First, it lacked the necessary technical vocabulary. Second, it lacked the grammatical resources required
解析:同上,这一题答案与上一题technical vocabulary并列,而原文中又正好有first和second,由此锁定grammatical resources
第32题答案:Royal Society
对应原文:第8段:Fortunately, several members of the Royal Society possessed an interest in language and became engaged in various linguistic projects. Although a proposal in 1664…
解析:根据after 1660将注意力集中在第8段,题干中的scientists与原文中的several members对应,由此确定答案为Royal Society
第33题答案:German
对应原文:第10段: In the following century much of this momentum was lost as German established itself as the leading European language of science
解析:题目前面的specific experiments正好对应第9段的最后一句,因此这道题我们主要从第10段中寻找。题干中问的是英语被什么所取代,推断空上填的应该也是种语言,由此确定German为答案。
第34题答案:industrial revolution
对应原文:第10段:However, in the 19th century scientific English again enjoyed substantial lexical growth as the industrial revolution created the need for new technical vocabulary
解析:根据19th century定位到这一句话,题干中问的是原因,原文中的as正好表示原因,因此确定答案为industrial revolution
第35题答案:NOT GIVEN
对应原文:第2段:The European Renaissance (c. 14th-16th century) is sometimes called the ‘revival of learning’, a time of renewed interest in the ‘lost knowledge’ of classical times.
解析:根据Renaissance定位到第2段,但这一段主要是在讲国家之间的竞争和科学技术的发展,没有提到科学家之间的事情,因此判断为NOT GIVEN
第36题答案:FALSE
对应原文:第2段:scientific developments such as the discovery of magnetism (and hence the invention of the compass), improvements in cartography and – perhaps the most important scientific revolution of them all – the new theories of astronomy and the movement of the Earth in relation to the planets and stars
解析:文中确实提到了magnetism,但随后就说了最重要的发现可能是新的天文理论和地球与其他行星和恒星的相对运动。因此判断为FALSE
第37题答案:TRUE
对应原文:第3段:England was one of the first countries where scientists adopted and publicised Copernican ideas with enthusiasm. Some of these scholars, including two with interests in language
解析:第3段开头先说了英国对于哥白尼的学说很热情,对应题干中的interest in science;又提到其中一些对语言也很感兴趣,对应题干中的how to express ideas和leading thinkers。这样一来,题干中的所有信息点在原文中都能找到对应,由此判断为TRUE
第38题答案:popular
对应原文:第4段:In the initial stages of the scientific revolution, most publications in the national languages were popular works
解析:根据下一行中的Encyclopaedias定位到第4段,空上填的应该是写作风格,并且与original对应,由此确定答案为popular
第39题答案:Principia/Newton’s Principia/mathematical treatise
对应原文:第4段:For example, Newton published his mathematical treatise, known as the Principia, in Latin
解析:从上一道题往下,根据Encyclopaedias判断空上填的应该是具体的作品,因此判断答案为Principia
第40题答案:local/more local/local audience
对应原文:第5段:Latin was suitable for an international audience of scholars, whereas English reached a socially wider, but more local, audience
解析:根据international scholars定位到第5段这句话,而与socially wider相联系的词只有local,由此确定答案。

29为什么不能写scientists呢?
2022-06-11 12:24谢谢!
两个原因。一是因为scientists前面有个some,也就是说只有一部分科学家是这样子的。二是原文中提到,科学家使用拉丁语是因为其受众是整个国际社会(虽然是国际社会中的部分阶层),与题干中the desire to protect ideas不符合
2022-06-11 17:16理解 谢谢您!!
